WELS saves over $1 billion on utility bills per year
A new report by the Institute for Sustainable Futures (ISF) found that in 2017, WELS saved consumers over $1 billion on water and energy bills. It also saved over 112 billion litres of water – enough to fill over 44 000 Olympic swimming pools.

Infringement Notice for providing false documents
The Regulator gave an infringement notice to a registrant for providing false documents with a WELS product application. Infringement notices may be given for providing false or misleading information or documents and other instances of non-compliance.

Check testing identifies water consumption issue
A compliance check-testing programme has found LG washing machines (Model WTG1432 variations) that use excessive water as a result of a software issue. LG are working cooperatively to address the issue and are contacting affected consumers.
Australia leading international water efficiency
The Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources has released a statement on the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) approval to develop an international water efficiency standard based on Australia’s scheme.
